Keynote: Reach for the Stars

Description:

See the Individual!Make a Difference! Celebrate Success!Every child is a star with personal strengths, interests and learning preferences. The differentiated classroom is an environment where each person can shine. It is a place where students become confident learners and connect with others. Together we’ll explore 10 of my favorite strategies that you can use immediately to encourage positive relationships and build self-confidence. A critical message that we want to send our students is promoting “Personal Best.” I tell students, “Your work is an extension of you. Be proud of what you do.We are all members of a learning community. When we value each other, we value ourselves.”

Linda ‘s Promise

“You’ll leave all of my seminars equipped with dozens of practical “take and use” strategies to implement immediately in your classroom!”

Do you have a diverse classroom with high level students, kids in the middle and students struggling to achieve? Do you wonder just how to meet the needs of every learner and help every student be successful?

Finally there is an answer. It is called differentiated instruction, a powerful approach to meeting learners’ needs and maximizing student learning in your classroom. During this seminar, you’ll learn what differentiation is and what it is not; discover what it means for you and your students and how to implement it immediately in your classroom.

During our day together, I’ll demonstrate just how you can differentiate instruction using research-based practices and practical strategies, tips, tools and techniques to help your students succeed.

During the day, you’ll learn innovative ways to review and reinforce content, receive tools to use for summarization, and discover strategies for on-going assessment to check understanding. You’ll create 10 ready to go models of hands-on tools that you can take back to your classroom. You’ll explore choice boards, tiered assignments and anchor activities.

You’ll discover how to incorporate these strategies to build classroom relationships, review and reinforce content, summarize key concepts, and use on-going assessment, choice boards and tiered assignments. I’ll demonstrate specific strategies that will help your students get organized, work independently, be accountable for results and improve reading and math skills. These strategies will save you time and many can be used on the spot with require minimal planning. These are the “nuts and bolts” ideas that you will take back and use immediately!

I think you’ll like receiving your own copy of my book, The Teacher’s Toolbox for Differentiating Instruction- 700 Strategies, Tools, Tips and Techniques. We’ll use it extensively during the day and it will become a resource for you to turn to again and again afterward. You’ll find 40 ready to use reproducibles inside to use with your students. Also, I’ll be available during the day for consultation about differentiation in your classroom.

If you are a classroom teacher, special educator, administrator, Title1 teacher or paraprofessional, you won’t want to miss this fast-paced day filled with dozens of practical strategies to help you respond to individual needs. My goal is for you to leave with dozens of concrete strategies that will make an immediate difference in your classroom!

I am so excited to have this opportunity to meet and spend the day with you! Remember to bring your scissors, markers, stapler and tape! Come to learn and be inspired, leave with tools you can use to turn your classroom into a place where students at all levels thrive and succeed! See you there!
